The Bate Academic Team also includes the Written Composition portion of KAAC. Writing Composition is.....

What is the Composition competition? Composition is an event sponsored by the Kentucky Association of Academic Competition. It is modeled from the K-PREP On-Demand writing assessments. The competition evaluates each student’s ability to complete a writing task within the parameters of competitive prompt in the time specified.

Types of Writing Prompts: High School and Middle Grades: Argumentative

Elementary: Opinion

Timed Competition: High School and Middle Grades: 90 Minutes

Elementary: 60 Minutes

Sixth Grade Showcase: 90 Minutes

JV Challenge: 90 minutes

The competitions are strictly timed. Event Time Level Date Mode JV Challenge 90 minutes

 

Meetings:  Composition meets once a week (days and times TBA).   We have several competitions throughout the year, and sometimes on a Saturday (but not usually).  We will also have a special 6th Grade Written Composition team who will compete for the 6th Grade Writing Showcase on December 1, 2026.  
 

Membership:  We will begin the tryout process and begin our practices in early October.
